Well, I am done with national boards. Things went pretty well, and I am glad as hell they are done.
Spent 4.5 hours on Friday locked in a room from the rest of society and was treated as if though I was in a concentration camp. Every restroom break was "supervised" and we were all searched with metal detectors and stripped of all our electronic devices from iPODS to cell phones. This was only the beginning.
Sunday rolls around and we all checked in for the second clinical portion of our exam. We were all greeted this morning to the sounds of metal detectors and more searches of places I don't want to mention. The final portion took over three hours to complete, and the other 5.5 hours was spent locked in a room once again. The only bathroom breaks we could have were, again, supervised and they sent security in every time before we went in, and after. I may mention that I left them a nice little present in stall three. I would have loved to have seen the guys expression on his face when he got a whiff of that!
Exhausted, and humiliated.... boards are finally over. I had to do all kinds of orthpaedic exams on people, and read a ton more xrays and MRIs. I was worn down by the end of the day and could think of nothing more than getting home and resting for the rest of the evening. Too bad that didn't happen either.
I was greeted by the wife telling me to start packing for the big move on Tuesday back home to Georgia. Not to mention I was accosted by my 4 year old who was ready to start making up for lost play time since I have been locked in the basement for 3 weeks now with a god-damned book under my nose.
I am finally done after over 24 years in school, it is finally over. Things went well enough to make me feel assured that I passed when it was all said and done.
It feels nice to sit down with a tall glass of Dr. Pepper while listening to the recently leaked Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy CD, but there is one problem even with that. I wasn't able to hang out with my boys (and girls...oops sorry clyde, didn't mean to leave you out too) and it is really frustrating to say the least not to have done so one more time before I moved.
Have no fear, I WILL be back quite contrary to what some have said. In the meantime, I will miss you guys a lot more than you all know. I would hate to add up all the hours my wife says that were "wasted playing video games," but I would never be able to add up even a single minute that was "wasted" since I spent them hanging out with you guys. I enjoyed every second of it. You guys are "Class Act" and one rowdy bunch. I will miss you all for the time being.
I hope to get settled down soon after the move so I can get back in here and start hanging out with you guys again. But until then, I am glad to know that clyde's kill/ death ratio will improve ever so slightly while I am gone. But only slightly by all means.
Thanks for being an awesome group of friends. I had a lot of fun and enjoyed all the laughs. It was the best fun I ever had while sober. I wish the best for all of you, and can't wait to hang out with you again.
Sincerely,
Dr. Robert Evan Milhous
