To be honest if you go in with a garunteed contract it does not realy matter if you get activated be cause of the war in iraqi, the military can change your mos after 6 months if they need to in a time of war.

Im Air Force and have been for 20 years. Recruited for 5 of it. Take a hard look at waht your doing and why are you picking that branch. The Army loves to throw money at people...but the bottome line is everyone is a soldier. If you look at the contract, it may say you will be going into a certain MOS, but somewhere on that contract you will have to initial a paragraph that basically states you "understand the needs of the Army come first....and although they have told you a certain career field is open...bottom line if they need you to become a grunt, then they have full legal right too because you initialed that paragraph. Do not get excited about the money that any branch throws at you. Explore all your options........sure a branch might guarantee $40, 000 dollars for college, but If your ass is in Iraq 15 fucking months at a time...when the hell you going to have time for school. One other note...then im done.....the big enlistment bonuses and re-enlistment bonuses are great...however take a look at this scenario......you join the service to get ahead and sense of direction in your life....if your plan is to go into the service, get educated and have money for when you get out, you better pick a service that will guarantee you a job that is applicable in the civilian world. I saw it a million times when i was recruiting...guys would run after the money, take a job as a grunt, and when their enlitstment was up they had no choice but to re-up....why? Because sure they have the money to go to school, but with no time to get a degree while they were in, and no job in civilian world that corelates to what they did in the service....they are back where they started if they get out... a minimum wage job and living back at home with mom and dad, or, 2 minimum wage jobs so they canlive on their own......with two jobs how the hell you gonna find time to use all that money you got for school? Find a branch that will in contract will guarantee you the career you want....all branches of the service have the GI BILL.....and unless you plan on going to HARVARD FUCKING LAW....that GI bill will be more than enough for a 4 year degree. Get with me on teamspeak so we can talk...theres more to this decision than money....you have to look at quality of life etc.......didnt mean for this to be so long, but sounds like your jumping at the first thing that is coming along....and trust me some(not all) but some of those recruiters will tell you anything they think you will believe to get you to join.....Stan
